My Personal Alterhumanity:
I was introduced to the therian community in early September of 2015. A pretty common reaction, but I thought it explained my lifelong feelings perfectly and I jumped straight in.
Around 2017, I came to the conclusion that I was a psychological therianthrope, rather than spiritual. My best idea at the moment is it’s rooted in my experience growing up autistic and feeling closer to nonhuman animals than humans, and feeling as if I was raised by animals as one of their own.
After research into different species, documenting my shifts and experiences, and introspection into myself and events in my life that may have shaped my identity, I concluded that I am a Siberian tiger therian. This identity has stuck and felt correct ever since. I also consider myself otherhearted, namely dragonhearted and raptorhearted (birds of prey).
In 2017-18 I delved into the fictionkin community and explored the possibility of having a fictotype. Before this point I identified as a range of things including demons, lizards, and dragons in an otherkind sense. After consideration and years-long research into different options I landed on Vergil from the Devil May Cry series. At the moment I currently believe in a mostly psychological explanation for it, but I'm still questioning this. I experience ’kin memories’ in some form, but I do not particularly believe that I was reincarnated from him. I find it's more like a missplaced soul or a parallel life of sorts, if a physically lived life at all. Although my fictotype is half-human, I see and refer to my fictionkin experience as wholly nonhuman and aligned with draconic and demonic otherkin rather than with humanoid fictionkin.
Since early 2022 I have regarded Raiden from the Metal Gear series as something between a synpath, linktype, and a fictotype for me. His cyborg body from later games gives me an experience similar to that of machinekin, so I find more solidarity with that community, although the nature of my identity as him remains fully human.
