WHAT IS THIS PAGE?
A webshrine hosting a collection of information, media, and musing related to Rosemary: a fictional character in the Metal Gear franchise created by Hideo Kojima. These pages function as both a conventional reference and a host for works reflecting my 2D Love feelings for her. These pages express series-typical mature themes. This includes spoilers for Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty and Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots.
WHY DID I MAKE IT?
Mostly? I just wanted to. I like her. She takes up a good place in my heart. For almost five years, I have felt for her the same as anyone does toward their own partner. She deserved a spot on a website devoted to the meaningful forces in my life. Maybe more than anybody.
Within fandom-analogous communities, I'm not alone in noticing a lack of warmth for female characters. Character shrines, fanworks, pairings, and discussions lean significantly towards giving attention to male characters, often with the undertone that only a man could truly be loveable — or forgiveable.
A reaction to this isn't really my intention behind the webshrine, but I was partly inspired to open up about my endearment in such a project out of, I suppose, "contrarianism". I want to show that once someone, somewhere, gave a shit about her. Especially given that Rose herself is a shining example for the range of condemnatory fan behaviour in action.
