Terms of Service
Communication and Payment
All commission enquiries and updates will be conducted through email. Please send an enquiry to falconiforme@protonmail.com including your specifications, ideas, and reference sheet. To avoid delays, please use an email address you check regularly.
Payment will be sent in GBP through a PayPal invoice. I ask for either full payment up front or 50% to start and 50% upon completion.
I will only issue a full refund if I cannot start work within a reasonable timeframe. I cannot refund finished artwork. Before you lock yourself in, please ensure you can securely afford the commission.
Artwork and Process
Please provide clear references of your character. Preferably, this will be a flat-coloured reference sheet, but I can work from other artworks. Feel free to include a link to your character's Toyhouse page if they have one.
A standard canvas size is 3000x4000 pixels or 3000x3000 pixels and will be exported as a PNG. You may request alternate sizes or formats before work begins.
I'll email you the first sketch for you to approve. This will be your opportunity to request major alterations to the pose and composition. If you prefer to only receive the finished piece (i.e. keep it as a surprise), request this before work begins.
My style is subject to change and evolution. While I aim to keep a balanced level of quality for commissioned work, I can't guarantee a certain outcome. If you have a particular favoured piece of mine that you would be disappointed if your commission differed from, please mention this.
I intend to complete standard commissions within a month and will notify you of any delays. If you have a deadline in mind, please let me know in your initial correspondence. Tight deadlines may incur extra fees.
Usage
The artwork is yours to use for non-commercial purposes. This includes printing it out, uploading it to Toyhouse (you can give me direct credit), sharing it on social media, and using it as a background or avatar.
If you sell your character, the artwork cannot be used to increase the value by any more than you originally paid.
Commissioned artwork cannot be used to train generative AI.
Miscellaneous
Commissioned work will be included in my portfolio by default. Please let me know if you would like your commission to be confidential (I will refrain from sharing the piece) or anonymised (the piece will be shared but not connected to you).
I have the right to decline to take a commission before any payment is made.
Questions & Answers
What kinds of things will you draw?
Pretty much anything that involves a central character. I can draw anthropomorphic, feral, and humanoid characters — I'm most confident with animals of either body plan. I love to draw ungulates and oddities outside of the usual canid shapes.
I'm happy to draw sensitive, suggestive, or explicit content, you'd struggle to weird me out.
What won't you draw?
Simply, anything that could get either of us into trouble. We can discuss what you have in mind first if you're unsure. In terms of skill shortfalls, detailed backgrounds, complex clothing, and realistic machinery (including vehicles) are very time-consuming and unlikely to be offered without a price increase.
I don't have my own character, is that okay?
Sure. I can illustrate natural-looking, "generic", animals if you provide me the exact species you have in mind. The rest of the commission will be handled the same as any other. I will not draw other people's characters for you unless you have recieved permission from them.
I'm alterhuman, can you draw my kintype?
I'd be more than happy to draw you. I can work from photographic references of your species or a standard reference sheet if you have one.
Will you draw characters from popular works of fiction?
Maybe. Unless you're commissioning a character featured in a work I'm familiar with, I'm likely to turn this down.
I don't have a reference sheet, is that okay?
While it's ideal to work from a reference sheet, I can use other pieces of art, written descriptions, mindmaps, notes, or sketches. Depending on the situation, it may incur extra costs for added complexity and extra alterations.
Do you offer cheaper tiers, like sketches, flat-coloured pieces, or emotes?
I find it difficult to price these categories fairly for both parties and the resulting artwork isn't very pretty, so I would rather focus on larger, polished illustrations. That said, if you're desperate for one, we can discuss it.
What about more expensive tiers, like reference sheets, comics, and customs?
Not routinely, as the total cost for the increased hours of labour can get quite high. If you have money to throw at it, I'd be happy to make you one.
