BIOGRAPHY

Born on the assembly line, a product of experimentation, or self-modification gone mad? This mechanical bull was constructed in a process shrouded in secrecy sometime in the latter years of the 21st century. Given consciousness by either an operating system or remnants of an organic soul, Hardtek roams the concrete jungle, taking up even the dirtiest work with a grin.

His identity is not recorded in any international database, making him highly sought after around the world for tasks where popping up on biometrics is a concern. Inside his body are rewritable storage media available for caching or couriering data, documents, or malware important to a client.

A heavily armoured, sturdy form combined with the brute strength an antelope possesses turns him into a juggernaut in combat. His programmable neural implants infuse the muscle memory of a master martial artist and swordsman. These implants can flood the brain with high levels of rewarding signals in situations which would sicken any other animal.

Hardtek works alone and keeps to himself. Speaking only sporadically, some assume a faulty voice synthesiser, but he simply doesn't feel like it. Most would describe him as cold. Robotic, even. Due to the augmentation, it's difficult for him to express complex emotion in face or voice. Regardless, he's recognised as one of the best in his field. He asks no questions and reveals nothing.

His life is shared by few loved ones, although he finds his home among the outcasts and outsiders of the world. He is especially fond of a muntjac doe quickly establishing herself in a similar line of work.

DESIGN NOTES

A greater kudu built from metal, vulcanised rubber, and circuitry; I gave him the trinomen Tragelaphus strepsiceros machinalis. For a head, he bears the exposed skull of an antelope, crafted of a blue, metallic material, with additional tusks comparable to those of tufted or water deer.

His eyes are customisable displays, akin to an LCD screen, generally showing a consistent eye shape with dark sclerae and an iris colour gradient chosen somewhere between red → orange, orange → yellow, and yellow → green. These hue options have no specific meaning.

Protruding from the head are two spiralled horns. These are not written in stone as a trait and can be depicted like naturally-occurring kudu horns, spiked similar to bolts of lightning, or swept backwards like an oryx. His large ears are partitioned as if frayed and are made out of a teal-tinted metal.

His mane is comprised of a rubbery material and is mostly inflexible; it begins in the central connecting line of the skull at the forehead and follows along the spine to the tailbone. The tail itself is a long cable ending with anywhere from one to four chargers. Right now, I'm favouring a tail split only once into a pair of connectors.

An exoskeletal ribcage is a prominent part of Hardtek's torso (not for defence, but appearance). The legs resemble running blade prosthetics in looks and functionality, which end with cloven hooves. Atop his shoulders lay jagged plates of armour, the synthetic musculature of the upper arm is exposed, and the forearms are encased in light armour. His hands are human-like, five-fingered, with long, clawed fingernails and lighter palms.
