This scrollbox will be continually updated to reflect things I'm currently listening to a lot! Links will open a YouTube video in a new tab.
Paint It Black by The Tea Party (prog-rock cover with industrial and folk elements)
- Providence by Tremonti
Funeralopolis by Electric Wizard (widely-recommended doom metal song, but for good reason! the soundscape here is very thick and oppressive in a good way)
The Golden Section by Coil (martial industrial track involving a spoken-word reading from a passage about Azrael)
- Plateau by Nirvana
One of Us is The Killer by The Dillinger Escape Plan (one of this mathcore band's more accessible songs, has a good place in my heart)
- Glory by KMFDM
Hickory Creek by Whitechapel (metalcore ballad, I listened to this forty times over just three days)
- Creep by Stone Temple Pilots
Asbestos Lead Asbestos by Meat Beat Manifesto (catchy post-industrial illbient song)
Do You Need Me to Remind You? by Greg Puciato (takes many different experimental forms, darkwave, alternative metal, and industrial mostly. enjoyable mix of clean and screamed vocals and an atmosphere that slowly gets harsher)
To Drown by Agalloch (world's most poignant atmospheric black metal track, hits harder with the whole album. musical equivalent of being lost in a blizzard)
My Collection:
Vinyl + Cassette:
Title: The Singles 81-85
Artist: Depeche Mode
Rating: Unrated
Extra Thoughts: My first cassette - made me have to rethink this section just being for vinyls. I got it from a record fair as an early birthday present! I don't have anything to test it on, but when I replace my CD player I need to get one of the middle-ground ones with both CD and cassette capability. Or a Walkman might be cool too.
Title: Musick To Play in The Dark Vol. 2
Artist: Coil
Rating: 4 Stars
Extra Thoughts: I picked this up from a local record store because I've always wanted to own a Coil album physically. The record itself is clear vinyl, and the second, one-sided, record has a really cool patterning to it.
Title: Delta Machine
Artist: Depeche Mode
Rating: 4.5 Stars
Extra Thoughts: Got this one from a local record fair in September! My first and only Depeche Mode vinyl.
Title: The Great Cold Distance
Artist: Katatonia
Rating: 5 Stars
Extra Thoughts: See below.
Title: The Fall of Hearts
Artist: Katatonia
Rating: 5 Stars
Extra Thoughts: I got these two Katatonia vinyls as an early birthday gift for myself last year (2022)! I ordered a patch with them as well. I like these two albums a lot, and I'd love to own every Katatonia release one day.
Title: Loveless
Artist: My Bloody Valentine
Rating: 4 Stars
Extra Thoughts: Got this from a local record shop! I like to use it as background noise if I'm not using my phone for music.
Title: Reservoir Dogs (Original Motion Picture Soundtrack)
Artist: Various Artists
Rating: 4 Stars
Extra Thoughts: I must have bought this pretty soon after the MCR vinyl, since I was into this film around the same time.
Title: The Black Parade
Artist: My Chemical Romance
Rating: 5 Stars
Extra Thoughts: My first ever vinyl! I can't remember when I got it exactly, but I would guess 14th birthday.
